The weather started to warm up so we decided to take advantage by heading down to our beloved Oak Island. The water was still too cold to get in so we enjoyed walking on the beach and searching for “ducks” so we could feed them some bread. In fact, the entire vacation became a sort of quest for “ducks”. We didn’t have much luck at the beach, but we had a lot of luck at the waterfront in Southport. There were so many hungry “ducks” we had to buy two more loaves of bread at Food Lion. Carter was very insistant on feeding them bread but he was more interested in eating the bread himself. Of course no trip to Southport is complete without a trip to the Provision Co. for their lunch special! Carter denjoyed the crabcakes and french fries. This trip also marked Carter’s first boat ride. We didn’t think we would make it in time to catch the ferry but as if it were a scene out of a movie, Ron sped down the low country roads leading back to the port. We just barely made it time before the ferry to Ft. Fisher debarqed. Once we arrived at Ft. Fisher, we made our way to the Aquarium where we all enjoyed the wildlife exhibits.
It was a fun packed weekend and we will surely be back to Oak Island very soon!

Saturday At The Pond

April 6th, 2011 Permalink

Saturday, April 2, 2011 the Sherron’s and The Weavers enjoyed a day at the pond. There was a lot of fun happening all around. We fished, played, cooked out and just relaxed.

It was a great day and everyone enjoyed themselves. The pond is a perfect place to have friends over and just enjoy the property. There is something for everyone to do.

Here is a video/photo slideshow of the day.

Here is a video where we were doing a little target practice.

Poppy is a strict Range-Master and all manner of safety precautions were taken. No children were anywhere near our range. Stephanie and Christina Weaver even enjoyed shooting on the range.

One day when Carter is old enough, we will have a perfect spot to teach him firearm safety and how to handle guns and bows & arrows. He will start out with maybe a BB-gun when Mom & Dad say so.

Carter doesn’t let the fact that it is almost Spring keep him from singing his favorite Christmas song! In this, world premiere, enjoy the vocal stylings of the one and only Carter Bean!

This past weekend was the Super Bowl and Poppy & MiMi were able to keep our Booger Sunday night while Mommy & Daddy threw a Super Bowl party. BTW, the game was won by the Green Bay Packers who beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Carter had a great time and as soon as we got home, he wanted to ride Poppy’s tractor. We rode all over the yard and then it was lunch and nap time.

After a good nap, we asked Carter if he wanted to go to the pond and feed the ducks? He got all excited and started going quack, quack just like the ducks. We spent a good while at the pond and he threw bread for the ducks to eat. We walked all around the pond and he found a favorite stick to play with.

He was a really good boy for us this weekend just like usual. He’s always a good boy. By the time his bedtime rolled around he was exhausted and fell asleep laying on Poppy’s shoulder.

Christmas 2010

December 29th, 2010 Permalink

Merry Christmas!
Like every year, Christmas for the Crisco’s is a busy time.
This year we started at Nana’s house. Aunt Teresa & Megan and Aunt Frances & Uncle Ed were there. We had lots of goodies to eat and Carter loved playing with his new swingset from Nana.

We enjoyed each other’s company as we opened gifts! Next stop: Grandma Crisco’s house. For such a tiny house, Grandma sure does know how to fill it with love. Every inch of the house was full of happy faces including Aunt Martha & PawPaw Crisco. Santa Claus even made a rare appearance for the little ones.

As the evening grew longer, Carter grew very tired, too tired for any amount of chocolate pie to fix so the Crisco’s loaded back up and headed back to Mooresville.
Christmas morning was a wonderful treat! We woke Carter up to tell him that Santa must have come see him! We hurried downstairs and Carter went straight to his new toys. First he played with his Little People Airport since he loves “airmanes” so much. Then he realized there was a 4-wheeler waiting for him. It was all over at that point!

Dad made us all delicious omelettes and we ate them as we watched the “Yule Log” on the TV. We opened the rest of our presents among which were a beautiful Swarovski Crystal  necklace and earring set and an LED Sign board for Dad’s Man Garage. Carter got lots of clothes and toys!
Later that day, after Carter’s nap, we packed up the truck and headed down to Mimi & Poppi’s house. By the time we left the driveway, snow had started to fall from the sky, a WHITE CHRISTMAS!
We arrived at Mimi & Poppi’s and there wasn’t a speck of snow to be seen, but we knew some might be on the way!
we ate delicious lagasgna and drank merrily!

We opened presents with everyone including Uncle Jake & Aunt Mitzi, Aunt Pauline and cousin Matthew and Pauline’s beau Jeff.We had a great time with the Dirty Santa game where Poppi & Jeff got into a “stealing” match for some car washing supplies. This secretly made me laugh because it’s been YEARS since we’ve seen Poppi wash a car by hand. I could be wrong, but probably not!
The best present was saved for last! Carter got a brand new shiny green John Deere tractor with trailer hitch. He was so excited and even though he didn’t get the hang of it immediately, we all know he will soon enough. That didn’t stop him from trying of course. He almost took down the Christmas Tree on one of his many attempts!
At the end of the night, we all went to bed and woke up to a blanket of snow on the ground! After our wonderful breakfast of a Sherron Family tradition, breakfast souflle, we bundled up and headed out for some serious snow fun!

What a wonderful Christmas we spent together! We were missing our loving grandparents, but I know in my heart they were there with us!
Happy New Year!

Trip To The Beach House

November 18th, 2010 Permalink

This past weekend Poppy, Mimi, Stephanie and The Bean packed up the Suburban and headed for the beach house on Friday afternoon. Ron had some other plans for the weekend so we all headed for Oak Island. Poppy had to clear a bunch of tree limbs from a storm we had a couple of months ago, so it was a fun weekend combined with work. We had a really great time and the beach house and yard looks great. Mimi cooked seafood for us on Friday night and on Saturday night, we ordered take-out from Capt. Stanley’s which has become our favorite seafood restaurant on the island.

We took Carter to Southport on Saturday afternoon to feed the birds in the waterfront park. He was all over the place and it almost took all 3 of us to keep up with him. The only problem we had all weekend was a flat tire on the Suburban as we were packing to leave on Sunday. We called AAA and they had us fixed and ready to roll in no time.
